THE SPORTS DAY

THE NEW GIRL WHO CAME IN......

CHAPTER-7

The sports day was going on in the college. Harry never participated in any of the sports items, he was never interested in such things. As I mentioned before, he was an whole package of complexes. But he always acted like so superior and he often said lies to his parents and friends to "boost up his image" before them. Harry was a good person but he had certain bad qualities which overshadowed his good qualities as a person. When I heard all his stories, I found that he was living a life just by hiding his weak side through his lies. We should not hide our weaknesses, instead of that we should learn to conquer our weaknesses and make them our strength. We should have an idea about what we are and what we have, and by standing with the reality, we should grow up using our strengths. The biggest fault of Harry was that he lived in an imaginary "filmy" world. Where he is the hero and everyone adores him. In real life we should understand that we all have stories and we all are heroes. There is no solo hero play in a society. There are no heroes, we are the heroes of our life who are destined to save ourselves.

On that sports day, Harry and Jane got too much time to stay together. Before that I would like to mention one more thing about Jane. She actually was an emotionally unstable girl (that's what I felt). Often she got into fights with Harry without any reasons or any faults from his side just to shed her frustration for fighting with parents or siblings or other friends. And after a day or two she said sorry to Harry and our idiotic hero used to accept her apologies for sake of not loosing her. He thought that it is his love towards her. But if someone repeatedly harasses you in order to shed their anger on someone else, then they are using you as a "pillow" I would say, just to relax by keeping their weight on you . We will see more about Jane in coming chapters. Now let's stick to our point "the sports day"

The sport's day was a grand three days program, Harry used to stay in home on these days, but that year he wanted to spent more time with Jane and he went for the sports day. They spent a whole day together in the ground, campus and canteen. While they were having a coffee in the canteen, Jane asked Harry.

"Won't you be coming tomorrow?"

"Yeah, I will. Why?" Harry asked

"No, tomorrow, I will be playing mixed doubles shuttle badminton, so you must be there to cheer me up" She said

"Oh really!" Harry exclaimed

"I never knew that you play badminton, who's your team"? he asked

"Actually I played it long back, but John gave my name and he is my team" she replied

I was able to guess what thoughts might have gone through Harry's mind at that time. But I never expected that he could do such a mischief.

On that night Harry thought a lot about Jane and John's mixed doubles, his complexes made him think about so many plans to stop their game tomorrow. He even thought of burning the sports room of the college. At last he found the best idea, which was the worst according to me. He called one of the sports coordinators who was his friend and asked him to cut the name of their team from the team list. The next day, the friend of Harry did as he said and manipulated the list. Jane and John were not called to play. Jane was so sad that she couldn't play the game and Harry consoled her with a smile in his lips that John and Jane didn't play together. Days and months passed, nobody knew this truth and even Harry forgot this. But on that day when he heard that from Jane, he was not able to understand how she knew that. Some days before the church scene, Harry had a verbal fight with his old sports coordinator friend and Harry abused him terribly by words. That friend whose self respect was terribly hurt by the words of Harry, found his way to seek revenge by revealing this truth to Jane and he did it. Anyway its a revenge and he spiced it up in order to add some fuel into the fire. And on the next day Jane saw Harry walking out by seeing her and John together. So she made up her mind to leave from Harry's friendship, since she started to feel his love and care intruding into her personal life and choices.

Harry told me that he did like that out of possessiveness. But I prefer to ask him, not only him to all of you that do you feel that you can hide a truth for a long time? No, you cannot. The truth travels like a comet, may be it starts the journey very slowly but one day it will crash land on your life and you can't do anything other than simply looking at it. This is what happened to Harry, he thought that he can hide the truth from Jane forever, but it got revealed on the right time and Jane lost all her faith and feelings on Harry. I said Harry that you can't justify what you did by saying it was possessiveness or something else. It is not possessiveness, it is obsession and you should not get obsessed with any persons or material things. It will not give you anything other than loss. I said him that whatever you did was wrong and you did out of your inferiority complex that you can't play any games and John is expert in that and his expertise in the games might impress Jane. You can't force a person to love whatever you love and hate whatever you hate. They have their own opinions and values, they will live according to that. You can't change people like you want and you can't change yourself as someone else wants.

The basic thing is that, BE YOURSELF. I am not saying that be yourself and don't accept any suggestions. I am saying that be yourself, accept the good things others day, make mistakes but correct them. And don't act or fake before people, you will definitely get caught.

There was silence on the other side... I gave him time to speak

"But she again spoke to me after this incidents and took help from me" he said

"After your meeting from the church courtyard?" I asked

"Yes, some days after that she again became friends with me and we used to talk like the old times " He replied

I thought in my mind "WHY DO THESE PEOPLE SPEAK? OH LORD WHY DIDN'T YOU MAKE THEM DUMB, AT LEAST YOU COULD HAVE SAVED ME FROM HEARING THIS UNENDING, BORING LOVE STORY"

To be contd.....
